Denver Health welcomes first baby of 2025

Denver Health welcomes first baby of 2025

The labor and delivery team at Denver Health welcomed Sammer Andre Arellano Cambero into the world at 1:49 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, making him the first baby to be born at Denver Health in 2025. Adding to the warm welcome, Sammer’s family took home a special gift of 2,025 diapers.

Sammer was born to Angelica Cambero Grisales and Jesus Arellano Sanchez, weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces and measuring in at 19.5 inches long at birth. Sammer’s older brother, Ella, is excited to welcome him home.

“I’m grateful to Denver Health for their receptivity and dedication in everything they do, from the administrative and medical teams to everyone in general,” Cambero Grisales said. “I’d especially like to honor the work done by the nurses and doctors in the obstetrics department in Pavilion C.”

One-third of all babies in Denver are born at Denver Health, and the labor and delivery team has now set delivery records in consecutive years with 3,841 deliveries in 2023 and nearly 4,300 in 2024.

“The fact that so many people in Denver trust us to deliver their babies is an honor and a testament to the high-quality and equitable care we provide to all in our community,” Stefka Fabbri, MD, chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Denver Health, said. “When you choose to deliver your baby at Denver Health, you’re met with an interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, midwives and specialists who care deeply about your well-being and want to give your child the healthiest start in life.”

Giving newborns a healthy start in life is the primary reason why Denver Health’s Newborns in Need program provided Sammer’s family with the gift of 2,025 diapers and helps supply essential items to all families who give birth at Denver Health.

Community members can donate items for new parents by visiting the Newborns in Need program page.
