Avoid Measles and Get Immunized at Denver Health

School-based Health Centers Offer Best Defense Against Measles

Federal health officials are monitoring cases of measles around the country. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that 107 cases have already been reported this year in 21 states and the District of Columbia, and 2018 is on track to surpass last year's number of cases to become one of the worst years for measles in the last decade.

So far, no cases have hit Colorado, but the majority of cases in the other states involve people who were not vaccinated against the disease. To keep measles at bay, make sure your child's vaccinations are up-to-date. Denver Health's School-based Health Centers offer all immunizations your child is required to have under Colorado law to attend Colorado schools and licensed day cares, unless an exemption has been filed. See frequently asked questions about immunizations here. The vaccines are offered to all Denver Public Schools students at no cost to them or their families. To make an appointment, call the Denver Health appointment line at 303-436-4949. The CDC has more information on the symptoms of measles.
