EMS Week

National EMS Week is held every May to honor the dedication, work and commitment of emergency medical service professionals.

Watch this emotional reunion between Burton Litman and the Denver Health Paramedics who helped save his life.

Here at Denver Health, we honor and recognize our Denver Health Paramedics with this collection of photos and videos, showing just a portion of the work they do every day, saving lives and helping the injured and sick in the Denver Metro area, under some of the most stressful conditions.

If you see a Denver Health Paramedic, we encourage you to take a moment to thank them for their service to our community. Read the comments from our Denver Health staff thanking paramedics for their service below.

"I'd like to send a huge thank you to all of the Denver Health paramedics! I'm a nurse in the surgical ICU, and I wouldn't be able to do the job that I love so much if it wasn't for our amazing paramedics!"
-Joel Nyeste, RN

"From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate the sacrifices you guys make here at home each and every day. EMS deserves more praise and respect than you currently attain for the hard work under stressful situations! Praise for the tough schedules you deal with each year. Thank you for being heroes; know that all of you are in my prayers! Thank you for all you do."
-Eddy Rodriguez, Behavioral Health Technician

"Thanks to all the paramedic teams for providing excellent first-responder care!"
-Erin Apple, Certified Nursing Assistant

"Our paramedics are always smiling. I work on the same floor as them and whenever I'm in the office, a few stop and say 'Hello,' or ask where I've been since I work remotely. When you walk by their area you can tell they truly enjoy what they do."
-Amanda Manzanares, Hospital Business Services

"I interact with many paramedics around Denver Public Health and in emergency preparedness exercises. Every single member has been awesome in knowledge, professionalism, passion, creativity and doing whatever it takes – demonstrating Denver Health's values of excellence, stewardship and relentlessness."
-Seth Foldy, Denver Public Health

"A huge thank you and shout out to my friend, Denver Health Paramedic Division Assistant Chief James Robinson. I have learned so much from James by his wisdom and the opportunity to shadow him while responding to calls on the street. He is amazing with patients and worried moms whose kids are in danger. James has contributed so much to our health care coalition and our community by participating in many meetings, committees and simply by showing up and sharing his wise insights. He is often my first call when I have a question or when there is an emergency in Denver. His humor and good nature is also greatly appreciated. In short, he's like the big brother we all want to have in life, and we are so fortunate to have him on our team and taking care of us in Denver."

-Seff Nichols, Denver Health Legal Services

"I wanted to give a shout out to all of our incredible Emergency Service Patrol drivers who are going to school to become paramedics while driving the ESP Vans. Their sacrifice and dedication is not unseen. Miss you guys and much love and support to everyone who rocks the gray shirts!"

-Tiffany Navarro, Hospital Enrollment Services
