Primary Care

Our Denver Community Health Services (DCHS) department is on the front lines of primary care with community health centersschool-based health centers and four dental & oral care clinics throughout the area, making it one of the largest community health networks in the nation. Our community clinics offer a variety of services including medical, dental and mental health.

We successfully treated more than 123,000 patients through 400,000+ visits in 2011. DCHS has earned several national awards for service delivery and operational excellence.

Our primary care physicians manage chronic conditions and diagnose and treat minor medical problems, referring patients to specialists when needed. We use the same electronic medical record as Denver Health Medical Center to ensure our patients receive care when needed. It also enables us to coordinate with hospital-based specialists. All the health centers are designated as Patient-Centered Medical Homes.

Academic Education

In partnership with the University of Colorado, DCHS serves as a training site for the residency in family medicine based out of Lowry Community Health Center.

We offer a one-year residency in General Practice Dentistry that includes training in pediatric dentistry, endontics, periodontics, oral surgery and restorative dentistry. Denver Health also offers a four-year program in oral and maxillofacial surgery that leads to the oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate.
