Colorado Works for International Physicians (COWIP) Program

Welcome to Colorado Works for International Physicians (CO-WIP), a dynamic partnership between the Spring Institute and Denver Health dedicated to empowering current Colorado residents who have graduated from international medical schools with MD-equivalent degrees to excel in primary care residency programs and obtain their medical license to practice in the United States.

Denver Health is the training site for the Clinical Readiness Program of CO-WIP, a rigorous nine-month journey designed to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and cultural insight needed for success in the US healthcare system. Through a comprehensive curriculum, our program offers:

- In-depth inpatient and outpatient clinical rotations across adult and pediatric settings

- Engaging didactic lectures covering essential topics like medical ethics, insurance and billing, sociology of medicine, and effective communication

- Specialized training in residency interview preparation and ongoing internal and external evaluations

The goal is to prepare participants to shine as outstanding candidates for primary care residency programs in Colorado. By providing opportunities to demonstrate and refine clinical skills, coupled with immersion in US medical practices. COWIP aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and experience to excel in primary care residencies and contribute positively to the healthcare landscape in Colorado.

Successful completion of our program opens doors to strong letters of recommendation from Denver Health faculty members, enhancing participants' residency applications and setting them on a path to fulfilling careers in medicine.

Join us in shaping the future of healthcare!
