Biocontainment Unit

The Biocontainment Unit (BCU) at Denver Health is dedicated to treating and caring for patients of all ages with highly infectious diseases. The BCU is staffed by a diverse and committed group of healthcare professionals who train regularly to safely care for these patients. The care team is called the High-risk Infection Team (HITeam). To remain continually ready, the Denver Health team participates in regular training and exercises. The team partners with public health and healthcare across the region to collaborate and coordinate special pathogen preparedness and response.

The secured unit also houses a Biosafety Level 3 lab for comprehensive testing.
