Resident Mentorship Program

Program Overview

The Denver Health Pharmacy Resident Mentorship Program is an innovative and holistic support program designed to reinforce and aid residents as they develop professional skills, strategies, and expertise as a practicing pharmacist under the guidance of a pharmacist mentor.

The purpose of this support and growth is to supplement the expected learning and development overseen by clinical preceptors on rotation throughout the residency year. Each resident will be matched to at least one pharmacist mentor that will follow and advise them throughout the course of their residency program.

Mentors will be supported by the Program Coordinator and the Mentorship Workgroup, a subcommittee of the Denver Health Pharmacy Residency Advisory Council.

Program Objectives

  • Empower the resident toward early independence as a practitioner.
  • Serve as an impartial voice to hear concerns from the resident’s perspective.
  • Offer information and counsel for navigating challenges and decisions.
  • Provide informal feedback on mutually determined goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a conduit to additional knowledge, professional contacts, and networking.
  • Model professional competency and leadership to residents in training.
  • Hold the resident accountable to professional conduct, ethics, and residency goals.
