Denver Health Breaks Ground on Outpatient Medical Center

September 20, 2018

Denver Health Breaks Ground on Outpatient Medical Center
Today, Denver Health officially broke ground on the new Outpatient Medical Center (OMC). The 293,000 square foot building will significantly increase the hospital's ability to provide outpatient care, meeting the future needs of Denver.

Robin-Wittenstein-Outpatient-Medical-CenterDenver Health CEO, Dr. Robin Wittenstein, Ed.D., FACHE, was joined by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Congresswoman Diana DeGette and other dignitaries, at a ceremony to mark the start of construction work on the OMC.

The new OMC will consolidate numerous services under one roof in an easy-to-access downtown location on Denver Health’s main campus. The building will greatly enhance Denver Health’s ability to provide treatment for heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It will also be a center for behavioral health, dental and oral health, and offer expanded services for eye exams, physical therapy, pharmacy operations and lab services.

Consolidating clinics will free up much needed space on the campus, allowing the hospital to boost primary care services, increase the number of inpatient psychiatric beds and expand operating rooms.

Close to half of the $157 million cost to build the OMC is coming from a citywide bond measure which was passed by Denver voters last fall. The building is expected to be completed in 2020.
