Matthew Alfano

Matthew Alfano, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Pediatric Imaging

Dr. Alfano completed his fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School and graduated from Radiology Residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.  His undergraduate degree is from the University of North Dakota, and he went to medical school at St. George’s University.  Dr. Alfano specializes in Pediatric Radiology and has been intimately involved in global health outreach and education.

Dr. Alfano is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  He has received multiple teaching awards in residency and fellowship and enjoys collaborative learning. 

  

Victor Anaya-Baez, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Anaya-Baez is a Diagnostic Radiologist with expertise in the area of Abdominal Imaging. Areas of clinical focus include general diagnostic radiology, liver imaging, renal imaging, pancreas imaging, prostate MRI, rectal cancer MRI, general and vascular ultrasound, and trauma. At Denver Health, Dr. Anaya-Baez serves as the radiology department’s representative to our weekly Hematology-Oncology tumor boards.

Dr. Anaya-Baez’s diagnostic radiology residency was completed at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He then completed an Abdominal Imaging Fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.

Dr. Anaya-Baez holds the title of Assistant Professor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Anaya-Baez particularly focuses on the education of residents in the area of abdominal imaging, engaging future radiologists through case-based and didactic conferences.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology.


Dr. Vanessa Campbell

Vanessa Campbell, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Campbell is a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist in Abdominal Imaging. Particular areas of clinical interests include advanced MRI of the prostate, genitourinary system, liver, biliary system, and pancreas. She focuses on image guided body procedures such as tumor ablation and biopsies. She also specializes in cancer staging and follow up imaging

Dr. Campbell earned her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine with an honors certificate in Global Health. While at Rocky Vista she was awarded the TOUCH award for community service each year of medical school. She completed residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan during which she won several annual resident research awards and was a speaker at the Radiological Society of North America Annual meeting. Dr. Campbell then moved to Harvard Medical School Brigham and Women’s Hospital to complete a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Intervention.

Dr. Campbell holds the title of Assistant Professor at Denver Health's academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Campbell particularly focuses on the education of residents/fellows in the area of abdominal imaging and image-guided procedures

Dr. Campbell is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Campbell belongs to the Radiological Society of North America, Society of Abdominal Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, American Association for Women Radiologists, and RAD-AID International.

 

Dr. Elizabeth Dee

Elizabeth Dee, M.D.
Instructor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Dee graduated from the University of Virginia with her B.A. and M.D. Dr. Dee’s radiology residency and body imaging fellowship were completed at the University of Colorado where she was awarded with the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award, the Outstanding Fellow Teaching Award, and the RSNA Roentgen Ray Research Resident/Fellow Award.

Dr. Dee is a Clinical Instructor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine. During the course of her career, she has been awarded Denver Health’s Clinician of the Year Award and as well as being designated a “Top Doc” by 5280 magazine, an honor bestowed on physicians in Denver.

Resident education in the area of body imaging and Denver Health’s hepatobiliary committee are two areas of particular interest.

She has been board-certified by the American Board of Radiology since 2003 and belongs to the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the American College of Radiology.

 

Dr. James Kerchberger

James Kerchberger, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Kerchberger is a Diagnostic Radiologist with an expertise in the area of Body Imaging. Particular areas of clinical focus include hepatobiliary imaging, gastrointestinal imaging, genitourinary imaging, and emergency/ trauma imaging.

Dr. Kerchberger received his undergraduate degree in economics from Georgetown University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and received the B.J. Phoenix Award in economics. Dr. Kerchberger earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Kerchberger concurrently earned a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Management from Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health where he was inducted into the Delta Omega honor society. Dr. Kerchberger’s residency was completed at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) after an internship at Emory. Dr. Kerchberger also completed his Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Ultrasound at the UCSF. During Dr. Kerchberger’s residency, he received the Elmer Ng Outstanding Resident Award; during his fellowship, he served as chief fellow.

Dr. Kerchberger holds the title of Assistant Professor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is board-eligible by the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Kerchberger has been a co-author on multiple publications and has been a presenter at the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting.

 

Dr. Nishant Mehta

Nishant K. Mehta, M.D
Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging, Breast Imaging

Dr. Mehta is a Diagnostic Radiologist with an expertise in MRI. Particular areas of clinical focus include breast imaging and intervention and musculoskeletal MRI.

Dr. Mehta graduated summa cum laude from University of Southern California with a dual degree in Biomedical/Electrical Engineering. He received a USC Presidential Scholarship and was part of the Baccalaureate/MD program as an undergraduate student. Dr. Mehta attended the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Mehta completed residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California after an internship at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California. Dr. Mehta completed the prestigious Bradley MRI fellowship at UCSD Medical Center. During Dr. Mehta’s MRI fellowship, he had the opportunity to work with renown subspecialty field leaders.

Dr. Mehta holds the title of Clinical Instructor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta particularly focuses on the education of residents/fellows in the area of breast imaging/intervention and musculoskeletal imaging.

Dr. Mehta is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology. He has been a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society and American College of Radiology. Dr. Mehta has been awarded “Top Doc” by 5280 magazine, an honor bestowed on top physicians in Denver. In his free time, he enjoys mantra meditation, reading, and cooking.

 

Dr. Randy Mound

Randy Mound, M.D.
Clinical Instructor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Mound is an Intermittent Radiologist at Denver Health. He received his undergraduate degree for Columbia College and his medical degree for New York Medical College. He did an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a residency Radiology and fellowship in Body Imaging all at LAC/USC Medical Center in L.A. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Radiology.

Dr Mound was a partner in private practice in LA for 25 years and then with a group covering multiple hospitals in Colorado for 8 years. He retired in 2014 and did Medicare Counseling until he started as an Intermittent Radiologist for Denver Health in June 2021 doing Body Imaging.

Dr. Mound holds the title of Clinical Instructor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

 

Dr. Joshua Sokol

Joshua Sokol, M.D.
Clinical Instructor, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging, Diagnostic Imaging

Dr. Sokol completed medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr Sokol did his radiology training at Tripler Army Medical Center, serving a total of 11 years in the U.S. Army. Following his military career, Dr. Sokol moved to Colorado to enjoy the warm sunny days and mountain lifestyle. After working for Kaiser for 3 years he left to pursue a career in teleradiology and has done teleradiology all over the world for the last 13 years..

Dr. Sokol holds the title of Clinical Instructor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

 

Dr. Thanh Vu

Subspecialty Focus: Ultrasound, Body Imaging

Dr. Vu has been a member of the Department of Radiology at Denver Health since 2006. She received her undergraduate degree in religious studies and biology from University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. Dr. Vu’s medical degree was obtained from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She completed a transitional internship at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.

Her residency training and fellowship in body imaging both occurred at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. She is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Vu holds the title of Clinical Instructor at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

 

Dr. Graham Wallace

Graham Wallace, M.D.
Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, Department of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Subspecialty Focus: Body Imaging

Dr. Wallace is a diagnostic radiologist with an expertise in the area of cardiothoracic imaging. Particular areas of clinical focus include trauma, oncologic imaging, and interstitial lung disease.

Dr. Wallace graduated from Kansas State University and University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Dr. Wallace completed Family Medicine Residency at the Scott Air Force Base – St. Louis University combined program and Diagnostic Radiology Residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals. He completed a fellowship in Cardiac and Pulmonary Imaging at University of California San Francisco (UCSF).

Dr. Wallace has served in multiple roles as a career physician in the United States Air Force, retiring Spring 2022 after 24 years of service. He has served as a flight surgeon in F-15E and F-16C squadrons, as a family practice physician, Family Practice Clinic Medical Director, radiology residency faculty, Chief of Radiology and as Chief of Medical Staff. In addition to stateside assignments, Dr. Wallace has been stationed in South Korea, Italy and England as well as being deployed to Kuwait, South Korea and Afghanistan. He also served as volunteer faculty at UCSF for 5 years, where he received awards for his outstanding teaching.

Dr. Wallace holds the title of Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology at Denver Health’s academic affiliate, the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

He is certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Wallace is a member of the American College of Radiology where he serves on the Appropriateness Criteria Committee for Thoracic Imaging.
