Gastroenterology Services

Professional relationships matter. Denver Health is here for referring professionals to help you make more informed decisions on behalf of your patients. Our Division of Digestive and Liver Health (Gastroenterology and Hepatology) provides a top choice for patient-centered care, and our physicians are available for consultation and continuing care for all common and complex digestive and liver disorders and a broad spectrum of preventative, consultative, diagnostic and interventional endoscopic services. 

Our team utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and approaches for patients requiring screening of cancers of the colon and esophagus, diagnosis, treatment, or management of digestive or liver disease. Colonoscopies and other outpatient procedures are performed in our new facility located in Pavilion L.

 

Our Services

Digestive Health Clinic

The Digestive Health Clinics are available for anyone who is referred for more extensive evaluation and consultation of digestive concerns. The clinics offer outpatient care to people who seek evaluation, diagnosis and continued care for a wide variety of digestive health conditions. The clinics act as a hub for your care, where basic diagnostic tests are carried out, treatment is provided and referrals are made for procedures, when necessary and appropriate.

 

Hepatology/Liver Clinic

Our Liver Clinics are available to anyone who is referred for more extensive evaluation and consultation of liver concerns. The liver clinics have two board-certified liver specialists and a physician assistant who also specializes in liver disease. The clinics offer outpatient care to people who seek evaluation, diagnosis and continued care for a wide variety of liver health conditions.

 

Hepato-biliary Pancreatic Clinic

Physicians in the Hepato-biliary Pancreatic Clinic consult with and treat patients with problems of the liver, bile ducts, gall bladder, pancreas and gastrointestinal tract. Patients in the clinic may receive diagnostic tests, including magnetic resonance imaging and endoscopic ultrasound. Therapies may include medication, surgery, interaoperative ultrasound or other treatments as needed.

 

Endoscopic Procedures Performed at Denver Health

Our gastroenterologists perform thousands of endoscopic procedures every year in our state-of-the-art endoscopy labs in Denver Health’s new Outpatient Medical Center and our inpatient GI laboratory.

General Endoscopic Procedures include:

  • Upper endoscopy with biopsies and dilations.
  • Colonoscopy with biopsies and polyp removal.

Advanced Endoscopic Procedures include:

  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
  • Esophageal, gastric, small intestine, and colon stent placement
  • Percutaneous gastrostomy tube placement and removal
