Rheumatology

Denver Health Rheumatology promotes respect, service, healing, education and justice for all by joyfully caring for and educating our patients, trainees and colleagues. 

The physicians in the Division of Rheumatology are involved in helping improve the health of patients with inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune diseases. We care for patients with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren’s syndrome, scleroderma, inflammatory muscle diseases, sarcoidosis, spondyloarthritis, crystalline forms of arthritis and various types of vasculitis.

Our clinic is located on the 5th floor of the Outpatient Medical Center. The division is involved in teaching medical students, residents and community physicians.

Research

Physicians in the Division of Rheumatology perform clinical research in specific areas of rheumatic diseases and in the area of doctor-patient communication. Research topics of interest include:

  • Identifying the associations of limited health literacy and the obstacles that patients with limited literacy face when navigating the health care system
  • Ongoing research regarding strategies to improve the care of patients with limited health literacy

  • Gout/Pseudo Gout
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Sjogren's syndrome
  • Scleroderma
  • Inflammatory muscle diseases
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Spondylarthritis
  • Vasculitis
